Dorota James

Dorota James focuses her practice on labor and employment law. Her practice primarily centers on wage-and-hour class and representative action employment litigation brought on behalf of employees. She also litigates discrimination and harassment cases as individual and complex multi-party litigation. She is driven by her passion for diversity, social and economic equity, peace and social justice. Committed to bringing fairness and justice to all, she makes sure her clients are properly represented under the law.

Prior to joining Ferraro Vega, Dorota represented employers in wage and hour class actions, representative PAGA actions, and individual employment matters. She also worked to guide clients with respect to exposure, practical litigation challenges, and equitable resolutions.This experience provides Dorota with a unique and inside perspective into defense litigation strategy.

In addition to her extensive legal career working in California, Dorota fought for justice on behalf of victims of war crimes at the International Organization for Migration in Geneva, Switzerland. Dorota led the Polish section of the Property Claims Team that was in charge of resolving about 16,000 claims submitted by victims who suffered property losses as result of direct and harm-causing participation of German enterprises during the Nazi Era. Dorota conducted historical and legal research resulting in more than 2000 successful property claims from claimants living in Auschwitz (Poland) and its surroundings.

Raised in Poland, Dorota earned her master’s degree in Law and Business Administration at the University of Wroclaw, where she received recognition as an outstanding alumna. She later moved to Germany, where she earned a masters and doctorate in law with honors. Dorota attended the University of San Diego where she received her masters of law with honors.

Dorota is admitted to practice before all California State Courts and the Federal District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California.

In her time away from the office, Dorota enjoys spending time with her son, likes gardening, reading, music, movies, the beach and outdoor activities such as hiking and traveling.
